gyro:chicago is hiring a freelance to full time production manager. The production manager reports to the production director. The production manager facilitates the flow of work within the production department and externally by distributing work to print and and media vendors. Production manager must exhibit excellent attention to detail as evidenced in their project documentation. Clear communication skills and calm demeanor under pressure are must-have attributes.

Responsibilities:

Recommend and write print specifications for gyro’s triple-bid print procurement process Track upcoming media insertions across all clients and prioritize the production of

advertising materials based on schedule and status of creative development
Produce proofs of advertising materials and coordinate with office manager to send

proofs to publications
Traffic media assets to publications and maintain records of ads released
Maintain library of tear sheets and printed project samples
Maintain project folders, physical and digital
Attend press checks
Manage POs for print and art vendors
License stock art, music and footage
Maintain records of licensed materials, update online database with license information Work with production director to track projects across all clients
Route creative work for approvals within agency
Route creative work to the proofreader
Verify proofreading and client edits have been made accurately
Build and maintain digital client asset libraries
Fulfill client asset requests
Attend scoping meetings to estimate level of effort and provide schedule for projects Ensure all print deadlines are met
Escalate project risks and resource conflicts promptly so they can be addressed

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in design, marketing or relevant field
Broad knowledge of print production and printing techniques and terminology
3-5 years relevant agency experience
Experience managing vendor relationships
Basic financial understanding of estimating fees, out of pockets, managing budgets,

purchase orders and recognizing out of scope work
Working knowledge of Adobe creative suite, PDF markups, MS Word, excel and powerpoint !
Freelance term of 30-90 days prior to full time hire.

  • Manage all aspects of PR and social media plan development and implementation
  • Demonstrate creativity in solving client issues
  • Achieve strong media relations results  with key trade and mainstream media, including pitching media and communicating successes and ROI

We are looking for someone who will bring:

 

  • Strategic thinking and creativity
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, including the ability to convey complex B-to-B concepts for a variety of audiences
  • Outstanding project management skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to balance strategy with the executional details of client service
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience dealing with trade media, top-tier national media and social media
  • Bachelor’s degree in PR, Journalism, English, or closely-related field
  • Minimum five to seven years of experience in PR and/or social media; agency experience preferred
  • Aptitude with basic Microsoft Office package – Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Understanding and use of AP Style
  • Portfolio of writing examples

-               Open up reception in the morning and handover to the Office Manager at the end of your working day

-               Arrange couriers and manage deliveries to and from the office as required

-               Maintain the tidiness and cleanliness of the kitchen, reception, meeting rooms and main office at all times

-               Ensure our reception space is immaculate and professional at all times enforcing a clear desk policy

-               Arrange ad hoc gifts for clients and our people when instructed

-               Frank all outgoing post before you leave for the day

-               Train our new people on our office procedures and the gyro way doing things 

-               Booking meeting rooms, post, using the phones

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
