San Francisco [November 16, 2015] – gyro, the global ideas shop, has appointed Ronny Northrop as Executive Creative Director of its San Francisco office. He joins President Drew Meyers in continuing to drive forward the office’s impressive momentum.
Northrop arrives at gyro from Y&R California, where he served as Chief Creative Officer. At Y&R, he led and won the pitch to launch the global Microsoft Enterprise Cloud campaign while also working with top clients such as Blue Diamond Almonds, Clif Bar Family Foundation, Sandisk, Crystal Cruise Lines and Citrix.
While at Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Northrop was part of the team that led the Sprint pitch, which would prove to be one of the agency’s biggest victories. Following the win, he served as Group Creative Director on the Sprint business. His other clients included Anheuser-Busch, California Milk Processors and HP.
Prior to Goodby, Northrop saw Crispin Porter+Bogusky explode from an 80-person shop to the industry standard between 2002 and 2005. During this pivotal period, he worked on some of the agency’s most famous work – Burger King, Ikea, truth, Mini and Virgin Atlantic.
As a believer in the power of creative to accomplish good, Northrop said the achievement he is most proud of is “Hacking Autism,” a program that works to crowdsource software ideas for apps that help people with autism find a voice. The project has since become the biggest global initiative for Autism Speaks.
Northrop’s work has received all the top creative accolades globally – Cannes Lions, D&AD, CLIO, New York Art Directors Club, One Show and more.
