gyro, the global ideas shop, secured two gold ADDY Awards last night at the American Advertising Federation’s ADDY Awards.

Work for client John Deere “You’re On” received gold in the “Point of Purchase – Trade Show Exhibit” category. gyro’s “Book,” which educates the industry and clients about gyro’s mission, received top honors in the “Self-promotion – Collateral” category.

The awards were presented at a gala ceremony in the Austin Hilton during the AAF Admerica Annual Conference.

For “You’re On,” gyro put loyal John Deere customers in control to design the company’s 2012 product line. The campaign captured dozens of customer-focused stories and devoted an entire website to sharing them. These customers, who have dedicated years of their lives to help John Deere design its latest equipment, were treated like stars on the site. Customers were asked for their ideas and suggestions. John Deere analyzed the customer feedback, which was then peer rated in real time, giving loyal customers real ownership of John Deere products.

gyro crafted and curated each page of its “Book” to celebrate the cultural attitude of gyro. It showcases everything from the agency’s thinking on why the world of B-to-B marketing has rendered itself obsolete, to the connectivity of every employee represented in a dot containing the name of the company’s 600 creative minds around the world. Each passage of copy and strand of artwork have been created in a way that removes the gloss, the boring sophistication, the needless attitude … everything that makes consumers numb to what brands have to say.

Earlier this year, the AAF and Chicago AAF presented gyro Chicago with a grand total of 15 awards. This number included three best-of-show honors, four gold and eight silver awards. The AAF and Cincinnati AAF awarded gyro Cincinnati 23 awards in February. This total consisted of two “Best Of” categories, one Judge’s Choice Award, nine gold awards and 11 silver awards.

The AAF selected the John Deere “You’re On” campaign and gyro’s “Book” to be included in the pool of regional winners for top honors at the national level.

The ADDY Awards are the largest advertising show in the world by number of entries.
